Some of the songs sound even better from this performance than the original versions. Guitars are average, and thats all that keeps this song from being in the top 3. Besides that small point the song is great. His family cared when payday came only. Verses and chorus both sound great.
Good for an opening track to get warmed up, but not one of the best songs on the album. Ive had this dvd now for the past five months yet i still get the urge to watch it on a regular basis. In a dim room, filled with candles and lava lamps, sings Layne Staley, his voice wavering on high notes and the climax in a song, and Jerry Cantrell, with his guitar, taking over the vocals at times, helping Layne to remember some lyrics. It makes for one of the better songs of this performance. The number two spot goes to Eric Clapton. Its like theres an empty space there. I usually don't skip over this song.
True audiophiles will surely appreciate the fully equipped master and monitor sections with 100mm fader, individual level controls for 2 speakers, 2 phones, and low-latency direct monitor function plus separate dim, mute, and mono functions. A highly overlooked and amazingly talented band lost in the shadows of the overrated Nirvana. This song is definetly worth a listen. An excellent show by the guitar marksman. Every word, every chord strikes you and leaves you thirsting for more. Alice in chains is one of my favorite bands and they are also very underrated. But there comes to hopeful and lighter songs, like 'No Excuses' and 'Heaven Beside You', which relieve you of the burden of such heavy songs before.
Overall it was a great show. The concert is so great i just can't stop listening to it. Probally my third favorite song on the album. I usually just skip to the end of the song. In this unplugged special one of the last times the group appeared on-stage before Lane Staley's death last year they show their softer side Brother, Rooster, Down in a Hole , while still playing a few of the favorites Angry Chair, Would, Got me Wrong , and giving the audience rightly what they need- good, solid musicianship, and emotional vocals from the late Staley. Do yourself a favor and watch this again, or if you've never seen it, prepare to be blown away. I often skip over this song just cause it doesn't have any outstanding points that catch my ear. Throughout the concert one can easily see the pain Staley is going through, having to perform once again with people he once considered friends, while being mocked and made the butt of many crass jokes. There seems to be something lacking. A great change of pace from the usual hardcore AiC albums. Vocals, bass, and guitars all sound great. The harmonzing between Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell is amazing. Its hilarious cause he notices right away, its also obvious that he feels so bad about it too. Whether you are a casual fan of Alice In Chains or a hardcore fan you will love this video. Probally my fourth favorite song on the album. Good song, the mood kinda sets it out of place though.
