Lockhart is an attractive wizard whose claims of battles through the years have swooned many females. It seems as though these extra scenes may have come from lesser source material than the theatrical version, or simply weren't transferred as well. Superior in all respects to the first film which was wasn't bad in and of itself , 'Chamber of Secrets' is more fun, more fanciful, and more engaging. They include a quarter-hour conversation with J. Overall though, it's a satisfying film for Potter fans and a nice bridge from the Chris Columbus era to the series being turned over to more imaginative hands with Prisoner of Azkaban.
Columbus' approach to this track is similar to the one in the first film, so he's a little bit more entertaining than informational. This is great sequel in the series and comes highly recommended. Hair comes on strong with theses colors as well as some clothes like that of purple. One thing that Chamber of Secrets didn't need was to be longer — it's already the longest of the Potter films and definitely is bogged down at times by Kloves and Columbus' overly literal adaptation techniques. Still, in beginning to introduce the richer, more complex themes that would dominate later installments in the series, 'Chamber of Secrets' is the first film in the franchise that genuinely got me hooked. I don't know how I lived without it now! There is more image detail over the course of the film, and black levels are deep and consistent throughout the feature. Not only did the audiences love it in the theaters, the critics also loved it. It does not live up to the intensity and quality of what would come later, but it gets an easy recommendation for adolescent audiences and for adults who want to see a good screen adaptation of an imaginative story. I would have liked to hear this mix in 24-bit resolution, but clearly Warner is unprepared to deliver the best that Blu-ray can offer. In the 2nd year of Hogwarts, the stench of Voldemort is slowly creeping around the hallways and staircases of the wizard school, so a bit of color change takes over the screen, but it's only subtle. Its a very accurate adaptation of the source book and just runs through the universe established in the prior film with much more confidence and gusto. While the first film appears soft and diffuse, Chamber of Secrets has very good definition and contrast. The size of the sets was already mentioned hint: massive. Clocking in at two hours and forty one minutes, it is the longest film of the entire series. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets also steps up the quality of the visual effects. Depth: This features a nice looking image with good depth of field and some rather nice motion that has no blurring or jitter issues.
