People who love Christmas romance movies will accept a little bit of cheese and bad acting to a point in Christmas movies but this movie is beyond that - it's just plain unwatchable. Through it all, there is generally an unspoken knowledge that despite their distance most of the year their friendship is more than that, which is often hindered by one or the other being in what looks to be a serious relationship with someone else. Initially, it seems to drag on a bit, but after awhile ya' get caught up in the length of time taken between the two main players before they commit to one another.
They dance to a great song at the end. Sam lost a lot of sympathy for me when he and Kat got into an argument, via telephone, while he looked at her through her bedroom window and she looked at him on her front lawn. Best moment: The end played out a little different than I imagined, touching without being cloying. When I started watching this movie, I saw Dustin Milligan and my immediate response was, 'Hello, Ted! They pass in and out of love. But underlying issues may place walls between them ever coming together romantically, specifically why Sam stays away except at Christmas, and why Kat has stayed in town leading what on the surface seems to be a stagnating life. Will Love find a way to make these great friends into much more? I am a Grandma who loves everything about Christmas and this is a new Christmas movie to add to my list of favorites! Can they come to terms with their true feelings for one another, and honestly make that step of commitment? Some things just shouldn't be attempted, even if they seem like a good idea at the time. I watched this sevetal times, a few years back on tv. This dude yells at the girl in the movie, doesn't talk to her for 5 years and then comes back and asks her to marry him.
I can only assume all the positive reviews about this movies are fake positive reviews by people who didn't watch it. It's just well cast, acted and directed, well done. I realize I sound sappy saying this--but it works for me--and I'm a 69-year-old Vietnam Veteran. Description: 1 videodisc 90 min. Can't wait until it arrives. The two beloved female lead actresses' performances are fine but their screen time for the first part of the movie is limited so even good actresses can't save this mess of a script. Through the years, Sam and Kat's relationship is not always cordial, especially in their teenaged years.
The flashbacks are very fast-paced and it is hard to grasp the relationship that Sam and Kat have together. He returns to town most Christmases for the Christmas Eve dinner, while Kat has remained in town, she eventually getting a job in the family business. I missed it and had to get it. The dancing scene was a nice surprise, Danica McKellar is a great dancer and fun to watch. I watched this sevetal times, a few years back on tv. It stars the wonder years girl, so right there is a plus. The music in here is fun. This is just a really nice family feel good Christmas movie. Special features: The making of ; trailers. But will they finally come to their senses and recognize true love before it's too late? And they even choose to stay at the kids table even as they grow up because as everyone knows that is where all the fun is.

Normally I love Hallmark, and Christmas movies but this one was so strange. Can't wait until it arrives. The only thing that was cheesy and no like real life was the ending, but the actors' chemistry made up for that. Bobby and Tom built Sam and Kat a small children's sized table that year that serves as their Christmas Eve dinner table to this day, with other children joining them as the years went on. Now they've got one night to make it right. It is like one of those crazy dreams you have after eating pizza and garlic knots when nothing makes sense. The lead male actor would be fine as a supporting actor but just can't carry off the lead.
Why on earth would the writers write that into the movie? It's a little bit different than all the other oft-recycled, boy meets girl, finds love at Christmas time, Hallmark and Lifetime movies.
